A Soldier with 1st Battalion 21st Infantry Regiment, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, engages pop-up targets to qualify with his M4 Carbine at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, during a two-week exercise Jan. 31, 2019. In order to qualify Soldiers are given 40 rounds of ammunition and engage targets from 50 to 300 meters, hitting 36 out of 40 to achieve an expert rating.
