On this floir are a number of heavy iron working machinestogether with the wheel borers and the wheel jiresses. The toolsare operated by a stationary motor, ami special motors arc pro-vided for some of the larger tools. This shoji is providedwith ))its, also with trucks and hand hoists and pneumatichoists for the handling of heavy parts. One section of the black-smilh^ ^liop also occupies this floor. The different floors of the. The first floor also contains the motortesting department, which will have attention later on. The machine shop proper, which is under the supervision of f,. Mitchell, occupies the third floor and the equipment oftools is very complete. The coinpany has discontinued the manu-facture of gears and pinions, finding it better to purchase thesefrom the makers of this class of supplies. For this reason it hasseveral gear cutters for sale, which are first-class machines. Trol-ley wheels, car trimmings and brass fittings of every descriptionare made in the shops, a brass foundry being provided for the
