Lahore Fort, Shish Mahal built by Emperor ShahJahan in encrusted Palace of taken by British


Lahore Fort goes as far back as antiquity, however, the existing base structure was built during the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar (1556-1605), The Naulakha,in Lahore means nine lakhs, or 900,000 rupees, that was the cost of building it. Its walls are encrusted with inlaid stones and jewellery, it is where the famous Koh-i-Noor diamond was taken by the British. It is a famous jewel in Kipling,s book Naulakha, he was inspired by this pavilion in the Shish Mahal, filled with silver and semiprecious stones.
