Sir Francis Bacon


Sir Francis Bacon was an English statesman. philosopher, law maker and the father of modern scientific methodology. He was the son of Sir Nicholas Bacon, Keeper of the Great Seal in the reign of Elizabeth First. Sir Francis became powerful after the death of Queen Elizabeth I and eventually followed his father as Keeper of the Great Seal. He was a great scientist who argued successfully for evidence based science against the Aristotleian method which based scientific truth on authoritative argument. He rose to become a Viscount but was accused of corruption in his office and forced to admit his crime for which he was imprisoned.
