KOMOBANGAU, TILLABERI PROVINCE, NIGER, 15th May 2012: Fatimata Birma, and her severely malnourished son Soumaila Agali, aged two, are treated at the local health centre's weekly clinic for children suffering from severe malnutition. The clinic's doctor, Abdul Karin Issaka, says that malnutition rates have been rising since January as people feel the effects of the food crisis. Without major interventions he expects many children to die by August.
