Pictures From Iran British troops attacked the island of Aradian on the River Shatt-el-Arab, at the head of the Persian Gulf, in order to gain control of a large oil refinery, belonging to the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company. Indian troops were landed from assault ships from the quayside and they attacked the Iranian strong points in the refinery. This image shows a view of the Indian riflemen seen at various points in the refinery on guard.
