While the volume of business for the past week was slow^ly going up grade, market conditions cannot be said to be good. The favorable growing weather of late has brought in a good supply of all kinds of cut flowers, including roses, gladioli, asters, delphinum and numer- ous outdoor annuals. A few dahlias have made their appearance and soon this line with its great variety of color and form will again be a leader. HAIL DAMAGE. Those growers in this path who suffered broken glass were Holton & Hunkel Co.'s Humboldt avenue plant, 1,000 to 1,500 lights; Gust A. Pohl, 800; A. F. Kellner Co., about 200, and Benjamin Gregory, who was badly hit, amount unknown. At all these places the dam- age done was on the south exposure. NOTES Many plant men were busy all day Sunday, August 28, getting their ex- hibits in condition at the fair grounds for the opening day, August 29. Un- doubtedly several out-of-town florists will be with us during this week. The writer paid a visit to the range of the Haentze Floral Fond du Lac, Wis., last week and found this up-to- date place in first class shape, ? both inside and outside. It's always a pleas- ure to see a tidy establishment. Art Leidiger of the Edlefsen-Leidiger Co., returned from his annual vacation in time to look after his duties as as- sist
