D., together with that of his pastor, RevJames E. Alexander, of Rushsylvania, he placed himself underthe care of the Bellefontaine Presbytery as a candidate for thegospel ministry, and entered Lane Seminary. Here he spentthree years, graduating with the class of 1891. During the lastyear of his seminary course he supplied the churches of DeGraflfand Huntsville. At graduation they extended him a unanimouscall to become their pastor. He remained on this field about ayear. Of three calls he accepted that of the Church of theCovenant, of West Bay City, Michigan, in the spring of 1892,remaining there five years, during which time the church mem-bership was increased three hundred and fifty per cent.
