Hancockite is a silicate with the chemical formula +++ (SiO4)(Si2O7)O(OH). Hancockite is a member of the epidote group, very distinct in containing lead and strontium in place of part of the calcium of epidote. Hancockite is found in metamorphosed zinc deposits. Named for Elwood P. Hancock (1836-1916), of Berlinton, New Jersey, USA, collector of minerals from Franklin. It's main locality is in Franklin, New Jersey. This sample is approximately 9 cm.
