Motor boats at Lac Cazaux were used for training military personnel during World War One. Turrets with machine guns were mounted on the aft deck, allowing students to practice shooting from moving boats. The training progressed to shooting from a hydroplane, which was faster, and finally from a fast airplane. This helped students learn to allow for shooter deflection gradually. L'Ecole de Tir Aerian de Cazaux in Gironde, France was the location for this training.
