G. wire in two parallels, there being560 effective turns. The resistance is ohm, or total resist-ance of the motor ohm. The normal current is 45 the speed 1,000 revolutions per minute, with a terminalpressure of 100 volts. The weight of the motor is 450 lbs., and ^^^. 50 freight engines, with six wheels coupled, and cylindersig X 26, weighing 60 tons each ; five passenger engines for localservice on the Harlem Division, ordinary American type,17 X 24 in. cylinders, weighing 42^ tons each : and one dummyengine, for hauling freight on the New York City street tracks.—National Car-Buildef. Y., are build-ing 7 consolidation freight engines for the New York & NewEngland Railroad. An Electric Mine Locomotive. The accompanying illustration (from Industncs) shows anelectric locomotive built by Immisch & Company, London,England, for the Wharncliff-Silkstone coal mine.
