National Slate Museum in Llanberis from the top of Vivian Quarry

National Slate Museum in Llanberis from the top of Vivian Quarry. Part of the Dinorwig quarries which ceased working on 22nd August 1969. Dinorwig became a pump storage scheme to produce electricity on demand at peak times - an expensive form of electricity. The rock faces of Vivian and Dinorwig quarries are now used as rock climbing areas and various walking routes around the quarry are of interest to walkers to explore the old quarry buildings on the many levels. Moel Eilio and Dolbadarn Castle can be seen in the background.
