The ingenuity of antiquaries has been muchexercised by the curious group of little chapelswhich are entered from the north-east corner of theduomo. The first, marked A (vid. Fig. 106) is aloAv groined rectangular chamber, with a row ofcentral piers. From this a j^lain square doorwaywith a descent of two steps leads to a secondchamber B, a square \\\\h two semicircular aj^ses toright and left.
