On the eastern shore of Lake Garda, a bather towels herself dry. Bronze statue from 1987 by the Spanish sculptor Luisa Granero (1924 - 2012) at Cassone di Malcesine, a village in the Veneto, Italy.
Cassone di Malcesine, Veneto, Italy: bronze statue from 1987 by the Spanish sculptor Luisa Granero (1924 - 2012) depicting a bather. At the age of 16, Luisa Granero entered the School of Arts and Crafts in Barcelona and to pay for her studies she worked as a model and assistant in sculptors' workshops throughout her career. In 1964 she became the first woman in Spain to obtain the chair of modelling and composition at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi, future Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona, where she taught until her retirement. She was the winner of the Barcelona City Prize in 1966. Cassone is a small waterside settlement on the eastern shore of Lake Garda and in the municipality of Malcesine. It is located in the "Riviera degli Ulivi", fifty kilometres of Mediterranean vegetation which, protected by the mild climate, allows palm trees, citrus fruits and olive trees to grow luxuriantly and give a renowned production of DOP extra virgin olive oil. The town of Malcesine is 4km from Cassone.
