Of these the brown or German, the Italian, and, in afew apiaries, the Carniolan bees are probably the only races existingpure in the United States, the others having become more or lesshybridized with the brown race or among themselves or their cultiva-tion having been discontinued. It should also be remarked that sofew have kept their Carniolans pure that imrchasers who wish thisrace should use caution in their selection or else import their ownbreeding queens. There are many breeders of Italians from whomgood stock can be obtained. Egyptian beeswere tried some thirty years ago, but only to avery limited extent,
