Her rich costume shows a black velvet gown with whitecollar edged with lace, and she wears earrings with pearls,and a gold neck-chain, also ornamented with pearls. A medal-lion appears on the front of the corsage, suspended by a blackribbon which passes under the collar of the gown. By order of an Igiiaclo Leon y Eseosura Spanish: 1834—1901 llo—THE CONVALESCENT PRINCE Panel: Height, 19-%^ inches; length, 24 inches In a sumptuous apartment, with walls covered with tapestry,and a painted ceiling, is a bed draped with curtains fallingfrom a red and gold canopy, in which, propped up on pillows,is a little prince, who is receiving from a woman attendant acup of nourishment which she is pouring from a pitcher. Nearthe foot of the bed is a group composed of two gentlemen inpink coats and a lady in a gown of white with embroidered flow-ers. They are sipping chocolate while they chat, and back ofthis group stands a gentleman functionary dressed in black,who holds a ewer and towel. Signed at the lower left, and dated 1872.
