Luxembourg Palace (Palais du Luxembourg). Built between 1615–1645) by French architect Salomon de Brosse, as royal residence for the regent Marie de Medicis, second wife of King Henry IV of France and mother of King Louis XIII. After the Revolution it was modified (1799–1805) by Jean Chalgrin to be a legislative building, and later enlarged (1835–1856) by Alphonse de Gisors. Since 1958 it has been the seat of the Senate of the Fifth Republic. Luxembourg Gardens. Paris. France
