It is likely that Thomas Abbey was at the Steuben head- 170 quarters during his career as an officer and also knew ColonelKirby. Ephraim Kirby became an officer in a Rhode Islandregiment but after the war returned to Litchfield and marriedRuth Marvin. One of his descendants, David Kirby, of NewYork, holds the insignia and other evidences of membership inthe Society.
