The Passu cones of Hunza as seen from the Karakoram Highway in northern Pakistan

This amazing group of mountains rise up over 6000m and are also known as the Cathedral or Tupopdan This is one of the most mountainous regions of the world with many unclimbed peaks and relatively unvisited by tourists These summits could be straight out of Lord of the Rings The people of Hunza are Ishmaili and very friendly but some of the more remote side valleys are not so welcoming and a guide is required by Pakistani authorities The green fields at the bottom of the frame are watered by glacial melt water as the region has very little precipitation
