Bennachie is the best known and most climbed hill range in North East Scotland. The hill has 9 distictive tops, Oxencraig is the highest top at 528m. The habitat on the hill is varied from conifer and broadleaf woodland to open moorland. The area south of Banchory contains some fine hill and moorland. Indeed, the road from Banchory to Fettercairn, through lonely Glen Dye and passing Clachnaben before reaching the wonderful viewpoint at Cairn o' Mount.
