Palermo, Sicily, Italy - 23 September 2019 The sprawling Palermo Cathedral in Sicily is a bit of an architectural chimera, composed of many parts finished in radically different styles over the centuries. Construction started in 1185, and Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque additions were slowly added. Building work didn't cease until the 19th Century! The result is a glorious mess. Here we see its Gothic arch and towers.
