The remains of the Mary Stewart. a 64 foot double topsail schooner built in 1868, on Scarinish beach on Tiree in Scotland. Mary Stewart was built by Barclay in Ardrossan. She was used for trade on the Irish Coast and had a tonnage of 65. In 1908 she was bought for Donald MacLean of Scarinish and was used for trading coal and other cargo up and down the west coast of Scotland until the 1930's when it became faster by steam boat which superseded sailing ships for transporting these cargoes (cargos).
