US military oceanography research. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) tactical acoustic measurement and decision aid sonobuoy system (TAMDA) team collecting oceanographic data in the Gulf of Mexico, onboard the NAVAIR 38 vessel. NAVAIR 38 is a converted offshore support vessel modified to accommodate advanced research projects. Here, the team was deployed to validate TAMDA prototype design concepts.
