A flock of imported Quails wereliberated near here last fall and inspite of the fact that they are beingfed and watched two of them recentlygot separated from the flock and wereafterwards found frozen in the snowalong a fence. It is a hard winter on the birds andno doubt many of the weaker oneshave perished of cold and hunger. At present the snow is two feetand more deep in the woods and it isvery hard to get around. There is butvery little bird life. Only a few ofthe common winter birds with an oc-casional flock of Pine Siskins. Inearly December while hunting whiterabbit
