Stratford house consists of two wings tliirty feet wideby sixty deep, connected by a great hall of twenty-fiveby thirty feet, which gives the mansion the form of theletter H. The ceiling of this hall is lofty and dome-shaped,and its walls are panelled in oak, with built-in bookcasesof the same wood between the doors which lead into thewings.
