Statue of Manneken Pis in Geraardsbergen, Belgium

The statue of peeing boy (hence Manneken Pis) was placed on top of a fountain in 1459 by the inhabitants of Geraardsbergen to replace a statue of a lion stolen by the inhabitants from Ghent. It is actually older than the more famous statue of Manneken Pis in Brussels. The current statue of Manneken Pis beside the stairs of the townhall is a replica made in 1985. The original statue from 1459 can be admired inside the museum dedicated to Manneken Pis located next to the town hall.
