The 1913 Finnish Museum of Natural History baroque revival building in Helsinki, Finland. The Museum has two giraffe sculptures on the upper terrace and a sculpture of a moose at the main entrance. The Finnish Museum of Natural History is an independent research institution functioning under the University of Helsinki. The museum is located on Pohjoinen Rautatiekatu 13 in the centre of Helsinki. The building was originally built for the Alexander Lyceum, a Russian-speaking cadet school, where the pupils were distinguished by their military-type uniforms. The building was designed by two Russian architects, Lev P. Chichko and Chayko. It represents the neo-baroque architectural style, which was uncommon for turn-of-the-century Russian constructions and is rare in Helsinki.
