Red currants are not arriving inas large quantities as last week, whentoward the end of the week prices went aslow as 2oc. per basket. There is a big cropof this fruit, but growers held back theirproduct, forcing an advance to 40c. perbasket, which is now the ruling currants are not so plentiful as thered, nor is the demand so good. The priceis 40c. per basket. The crop of blackcurrants is rather below the average,and, as the demand is good, pricesrule steady at 65 to 75c. per basket. Thegooseberry crop has been good, and, as thedemand was not over active, prices fell to15 to 30c. This decreased shipments tosuch an extent that the demand absorbs alloffering, the price now asked being 30 to65c. Cherries also have advanced materiallyover last weeks prices. The crop islight, and the receipts are falling offrapidly. The prices quoted now are75c. for the cooking and # for theeating varieties.
