A fine, silver inlaid rapier in the style of circa 1560, Toledo, dated 1878, Double-edged, straight blade with short fuller. On both sides of the forte floral etchings with Latin inscriptions and remains of gilding. Iron swept hilt, decorated with deeply chiselled figures and flowers and silver inlays. The reverse of the bars with silver quatrefoil dot inlays. Screw-mounted pommel with elaborate silver inlays and chiselled openwork figures.
