62 year old Yuk Teng (យក់ តេង), is the team leader of her communities Latrine and Saving Project in Thlork Rang Village, Khtorm Krang Commune, Samraong Torng District, Kampont Speu Province (ភូមិធ្លករាំង ឃុំខ្ទមក្រាំង ស្រុកសំរោងទង ខេត្តកំពង់ស្ពឺ) "Quote 1: All 27 members in my team now have latrine for their families. It is much better since we no longer defecate in the open. The air no longer smells bad, and the children get sick less often. Quote 2: The saving money is great resource when team members are in emergency situation and needs money. With small interest, we can borrow money to do thing for the family like building a new latrine or raising more chicken or paying medical bills. We would have to pay very hight interest or go through a long process if we borrow it from private loan sharks or from the bank. Quote 3: I know water in my pond looks milky, but I have no choice. I use it for washing. For cooking and drinking, I use water from my niece’s well. It’s still better than buying water that is pumped from the big pond in front of the village. It is not clean either; cows and other animals also use that same pond.
