If this might be, the chances are, we would soonhave better quality in the show room at least. To aid thosewho may be interested in having high quality Cochin Ban-tams we shall give in one the combined experience of ourbest producers of the Cochin Bantams as their guide tosuccess. The mating for shape is the same in all varieties, and ofvital importance. More by far depends upon the female thanis usually accredited to her. This style of femalemay as well be discarded as a pro•ducer, for it will not give goodreturns, no matter how it maybe mated. Turn to our illus-tration, Rear View of Malesand Females. and note thewidth of feather, the spreadof tail cushion, and fluff. Allthis must be present in thestrongest degree in the fe-males from which we hope toobtain true Cochin backs, necks, tails andlegs do not belong to theCochin Bantam; and close orshort feather must not beoonsidered. The proper females forproducing good form are the short compact built hens thatiave very long profuse feathering all over.
