Urinary system. Computer artwork showing an anterior view of the kidneys, the main organs of the urinary system, relative to the skeleton and abdominal organs (white). The kidneys are located in the upper abdomen. The function of the kidneys is to filter waste products such as urea from the blood to form urine. The urine drains to the bladder (bottom) through the ureters (tubes running downwards). The urine leaves the bladder through the urethra. On top of each kidney is an adrenal gland (orange). This gland produces adrenaline, along other hormones. Adrenaline is produced as part of the flight-or-fight response.
