Anal 16-18; origin slightly behind that of dorsal. Caudal peduncle 11 times as long as deep. Described from three specimens, 47 to 100 mm. in length. Hab. North Atlantic. Professor L. Roule has kindly compared one of these specimens with the type of the species preserved in the Paris Museum, and writes as follows: " Quant a la specification, elle penche plutot, a mon avis, apres examen, du cote B. homoptera Vaillant. Pourtant, I'exemplaire etant unique, et de petite taille, il m'est malaise d'opiner avec surete ". It is of interest to note that the "supraclavicular process" is still present in the largest example.
