He resigned in 1892 and took the po-sition of general yardmaster of the B. & , coke region, but resigned it in 1897and went into the bottling and soda waterbusiness, organizing the firm of Coughanour& Co., in which business he still holds a largeinterest. This firm does the largest businessin that line in Connellsville. He also formedthe Cheat Haven Coal Company, of CheatHaven, Pa., and opened the first coal mineon Cheat river below Rowlesburg, W. \a.,and now owns a controlling interest in thatcompany. In 1897 he rgain accepted a posi-tion as trainmaster of the B. & O. R. the Fairmont division of that road, at. Mr. Coughanour, aswill be seen, has had twenty years of continu-ous service of railroading, and is consideredone of the most successful railroad men inhis branch of the service living, as in all thattime in his arranging the running and meet-ing of trains, there has never been an acci-dent or a person injured, and he attributeshis success, he says, to having always ab-stained from drink and in exercising thegreatest care in his arrangements. - Besidesbeing such a successful railroad man
