Red Ford Thunderbird outside Sun Studio with Gibson guitar motif Memphis Tennessee

Sun Studio now features regular public tours through the premises which are largely untouched and remain as they were in the fifties. A small upstairs museum has been set up, and a record shop and cafe selling refreshments and souvenirs have been added. Sun Studio, for a modest price, offers one of the best original rock n roll music tours in the United States. Sun Records artists like Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley all recorded rock n roll songs at Sun Studio. The studio opened January 3, 1950 as Memphis Recording Service. Sun Records was housed in the same building. Blues and R&B artists like Howlin Wolf, Junior Parker, Little Milton, King and Rufus Thomas recorded there in its early days.
