Playa Del Rey, Califormia, USA. 1st July, 2016. Crews worked to remove a deceased humpback whale that washed up on the shore of Dockweiler State Beach, a popular beach located in the Los Angeles area the night before around 8:00pm. Scientists and biologists were onsite to take tissue samples in order to help determine the cause of death. The whale was estimated to be 10-20 years old, weigh 22 tons, and 45 feet in length. It was later successfully towed out to sea during high tide by two Los Angeles County Lifeguard boats. Credit: Sheri Determan / Alamy Live News
