ALCHEMY - ALCHEMICAL WOMAN Personification of Alchemy, as a woman with a continual discharge of Celestial Fluid from her breasts, and carrying a chameleon and parrot in her hands. Here eyes are the Sun and Moon: there are three stars on her forehead. The union of Sulphur and Salt, required by the achievement of the Art, is symbolized by the burning (sulphur) head (wherein resides the Salt). Frontispiece engraved by J.
