Polylepis (Polylepis sp) near to the lagoon of Llanganuco (12,628 ft above sea-level - Huaraz region - nature reserve of Huascarán - Ancash - Peru). The tree genus Polylepis is endemic in Peru. This rarity occurs at altitudes of up to 12,000 feet. The tree has an orange coloured bark that peels in sheets, and is the host to epiphytes: the "tillandsias" (Bromelia sp). Polarizing filter.
