in Padiham in the county of Lancashire in England

Every year there is a summer festival at Gawthorpe Hall that is a publically owned museum which is a Jacobean Mansion in Padiham in Lancashire England. It is here, so it is said, that Charlotte Bronte, who wrote Jane Eyre, caught the cold that killed her tragically young. Gawthorpe Hall houses the famous Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth Collection one of the finest collections of textiles and embroidery in the British Isles.
