Eye examination. Ophthalmologist using an aberrometer to study refractive errors in a patient's eye. The aberrometer sends parallel light rays onto the retina (light sensitive membrane) at the back of the eye. The reflected rays are detected and studied to check for any deviation from the perfect reflection. Deviations indicate that the eye being studied has refractive errors, which cause focusing disorders. Once diagnosed correctly, these can be treated surgically or by the wearing of contact lenses or spectacles.
