Close detail of the young flower buds of Alexanders / Smyrnium olusatrum. Edible wild plant. Foraging and dining on the wild concept.
Alexanders (Smyrnium olusatrum) is an edible wild plant, previously grown in the British Isles as food and went out of use towards the end of the 18th century. It belongs to the carrot and parsley family (Umbelliferae) which also includes the poisonouse species hemlock and hemlock water-dropwort (examples of which are also in my collection of plant images).
