The professional reputation of B. Miller is not confined to Ma-con City, his home, nor yet to thatnorthern section of Missouri inwhich he is best known, but extendsover the entire State. Dr. Miller was born in Palmyra,Mo., on the first day of February,48 years ago. After receiving apublic and high school education inhis native town, young Miller en-tered the Central College at Fay-ette. Mo., which he left to enter the Jefferson Medical College of Phila-delphia, Pa. Receiving his diploma and de-gree from that institution in 1878,Dr. Miller returned to Missouri,where, in the same year, he beganthe active practice of medicine inShelbyville. lour years later heremoved his office to Macon City,where he has ever since been. Dr. Miller earlv identified himself. with the progressive, earnest menof the profession by his election tomembership in both the MissouriMedical Association and AmericanMedical Association. He was chosenpresident of the former society in1892, serving in that capacity forthe ensuing year. He is also a mem-ber of the Northern Missouri Medi-cal Society and the Macon CountyMedical and Surgical Society as-well. In 1884 and for the next threeyears, Dr. Miller lectured on gyne-cology in the Medical Department ofthe Missouri State University. Forsome time past Dr. Miller has beenthe local surgeon for the Hannibal MEDICINE AND SURGERY. 305 & St. Joseph Eailroad Company atMaeon. Dr. Miller is a scholarly gentle-man, well versed in the literature profession and in the affairs ofthe day. He takes a keen int
