In the crypt below the Rotunda of the US Capitol is this 8-ton statue - a tribute to three American women's rights leaders, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony and Lucretia Mott. Executed by Adelaide Johnson, the figure in the left corner was left unfinished to convey the old adage that "woman's work is never done." Here, two WAVES, typifying the American women of today, gaze at the three pioneers. 1945, Washington, DC.
