From around April 13-15 each year, the people of Laos celebrate Phimai, one of the most sacred festivals in the Buddhist calendar, culminating in anointing Buddha relics with water. This girl took part in the parade and beauty pageant in Luang Prabang, Laos' former Royal seat and the most sacred place in the country. The pageant is divided into different age groups, but she was pronounced queen of the pageant and got to ride on the lifesize and very lifelike elephant model
