The barge is at the head of a flotilla of boats, organised by the Leeds and Liverpool canal society, recreating a passage of the canal made in 200 years ago in 1816 that celebrated the opening of the canal. The original bridge here in the back ground has a stone inscription that reads “Opened 22nd October 1816”.
