J. Robert Oppenheimer (1904–1967) was an American theoretical physicist and participant in the Manhattan Project's development of the atomic bomb during World War II as wartime head of the Los Alamos Laboratory in New Mexico. Oppenheimer is pictured here at the Guest House (Alexander Inn) at Oak Ridge, Tennessee in a photograph by Ed Wescott on February 14, 1946.
