Hemust have been of an inventive turn, for he took out apatent for the application of a longitudinal iron barto the piano on July 29th, 1824, thus anticipating aminor feature of Babcocks plate by about sixteenmonths. Dwight subsequently became a partner ofDaniel B. Newhall. This firm exhibited some pianos in1839 designed to meet a want then felt for low-pricedinstruments, and as far as can be learned devoted them-selves entirely to this class of trade. Dwight &amp
