From 1895 to 1900 he was presi-dent of the Connecticut Building & Loan As-sociation of Hartford. In 1899 he succeededR. B. Parker as president- of the HartfordLife Insurance Company, a position he hasfilled with credit to himself and profit to hiscompany. In politics he is a Republican. Hewas state senator in 1889-90, and 1893-94,from the twenty-fourth senatorial district. Hewas paymaster-general on the staff of Gover-nor Cooke in 1897-98.
