Detail of the unique gilded and brightly painted wrought iron courtyard well head in the castle at Jindřichův Hradec, South Bohemia, Czechia / Czech Republic. It was forged by a local blacksmith named Andreas as a wedding gift for the 1598 marriage of the last Lord of Hradec, Joachim Ulrich von Neuhaus, to Marie of Hohenzollern. The metalwork is decorated with fantastical faces, mythical beasts, angels and the five-petalled rose emblem of the Rosenberg or Rožmberk family, powerful lords of the Kingdom of Bohemia.
