The joyful birds run on the water CHANDIGARH, INDIA HILARIOUS IMAGES of a pair of Eurasian Coots chasing each other as they appear to be going so fast they actually walk on the water have been captured. Images show the moment two Eurasian Coots should have been coming in to land gently on the pond instead they take off running and have such incredible momentum they actually run on the surface of the water. The Eurasian coot is mainly a freshwater wading bird that prefers relatively shallow large open lakes, reservoirs, ponds and gravel pits with static or slow moving water. Out of the breeding season in the winter they will also choose salt water estuaries and inshore seawater. As well as foraging for food at the bottom of lakes and ponds, coots can also be found grazing on grasses along nearby shores. The white bill and facial shield are a unique reference for identification in addition to some fairly unusual feet and loud short vocalisations. These images were captured by businessman Anuj Jain (45) from Chandigarh, India. Anuj captured the cocky cormorant in Chandigarh, India on his Nikon D750+200-500mm. ?I was sitting by the lake when I saw a pair of Eurasian Coot and all of a sudden one started chasing the other as if they were playing,? said Anuj. ?I took a burst of pictures and later I noticed that these birds were literally running on the water. ?I saw this behaviour for the very first time. ?I felt extremely lucky that I was able to capture the capability of this bird. ?I love the fact that I can capture the moments that last for some milliseconds and we can?t see those with our naked ENDS
